Modern Day Castle
A grand driveway welcomes you to a spacious corner lot on the east side of Sioux Falls, to a custom home built by Dakota Territory Custom homes. This two-bedroom, two-bathroom home sits on almost half an acre of land with superb views in every direction. Stunning natural stone, hailing from Wisconsin, and neutral hardboard siding create an exquisite exterior for this 2,400-square-foot finished home. An abundance of stone, a handsome Craftsman-style door and a pitch roof usher guests into this modern-day castle.
Hickory floors greet you upon entering and lead you through a set of French doors to the first bedroom. Soft carpet, plentiful natural light and a custom octagon-shaped coffered ceiling create a larger-than-life feel. Conveniently located off this bedroom is a Jack-and-Jill bathroom. A spectacular walk-in tiled shower is the showstopper here. The glass enclosed shower features floor-to-ceiling chocolate brown subway tiles and dark patterned marble. There’s no doubt guests will be presented with the opportunity to relax when visiting.
Directly off the bathroom is the main floor laundry room, which conveniently doubles as a mudroom. Natural light flows in, thanks to the massive window, and bounces off the sleek white and grey granite countertop. An added bonus: the laundry room is able to be closed off by a functional pocket door.
Outside, an oversized heated three-stall garage provides plenty of room for storing the entire family’s toys. A storage room in the garage can easily be closed off – perfect for those seasonal toys or garage tools that need to be stashed away. The space was made possible by utilizing the area created by the staircase that leads to the 800-square-foot bonus room in the home. A beautiful, wide open space, the bonus room is great for the occasional house guest or as a large office. With an abundance of windows, the space is bright and sunny, with endless views of the eastern part of Sioux Falls.
In the kitchen, white granite countertops complement Cherry custom cabinetry. Crown molding reaches the ceiling and smoke glass accents adorn the upper cabinet doors, offering both functional and stylish storage. An island with a butcher block top provides additional space for whipping up delicious meals. Conveniently lit by recessed lighting and soft pendants, an L-shaped counter elegantly frames the chef’s space. A custom tile backsplash completes this state-of-the-art kitchen.
A covered coffee deck is directly off the dining area, complete with wrought iron spindles, a ceiling fan and recessed lighting. Home audio makes this a comfortable space for enjoying your morning coffee, the local news and your favorite tunes. This is the second outdoor space in this home; the first is a covered deck off the great room. It runs the entire length of the great room, and is complete with steps to the backyard.
Back in the great room, a stone fireplace warms things up on a cold winter day. From the Hickory flooring to the nine-foot ceilings, the fireplace is definitely the focal point on the main floor. Up above, a rustic coffered ceiling with a modern ceiling fan adds even more elegance. A large three-pane window lights up this area, and the warmth of the sun shines on the comfortable room. Behind the fireplace is an open view to the stairs leading to the lower level, beautifully lit by a contemporary open globe chandelier.
Large windows, including wrap-around windows, are found on nearly every wall of the master bedroom. Plush carpet, recessed lighting and a custom tray ceiling help create a lavish retreat. Dual walk-in closets – conveniently located across from one another – are complete with shoe cubbies, drawers and plenty of space for clothing items and accessories.
In the master bath, dark granite countertops adorn the dual sink vanity. An elegant white soaker tub is placed under a unique peaked ceiling and a huge picture window, creating a spa-like ambiance not found in just any home. A walk-in shower is tiled with beautiful, earthy-toned tiles and enclosed by glass, complete with a rainfall shower head. Built-in shelves are set on either side of the soaker tub – perfect for plush towels and refreshing bath products.
The unfinished lower level of this home has potential for another two bathrooms, two bedrooms, as well as a wet bar and sufficient space for that theatre room you’ve always wanted. This home is truly the modern-day castle, ready for family and friends to gather together and share memories.
